It makes sense that we use this proven technology to provide our water safety teams a live feed of the exact location of all of our paddlers for the duration of the race.
The added bonus is that for the first time, spectators can watch the race unfold in real time via the live tracking website. We’re pretty excited about this.

Flotilla is hands down the best value for money tracking service on the planet. I love that it works on a smartphone and I don't have to deal with dedicated tracking gadgets. No other tracker has such a high level of integration with the NSRI, our local search and rescue organisation. My race safety officer can keep an eye on everyone, NSRI is watching and spectators can track their favourites. On a personal note, 2 friends have been rescued and brought home safe thanks to Flotilla and SafeTrx. I will not run an event without it.

Our 4-day race is held on perhaps the wildest and most remote coastline in South Africa. On day 2 of the 2018 race a paddler lost their ski and was left swimming 2km out to sea. Flotilla assisted the situation and helped us to rescue the paddler in minutes. The human and financial saving was immeasurable.

Endorsed by our national sporting organisation Canoe Racing New Zealand, the event serves as our selections for this year’s International Canoe Federation World Championship in France. We have investigated many tracking and emergency alerting options and are convinced that SafeTrx (kindly made available by the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard) is the best solution available to keep our paddlers safe on the water.
